By Andrew | Published October 17, 2016

The Beach Boys Band
A Tribute to the Beach Boys

Since its inception the reputation of The Beach Boys Band has continued to grow, they are now one of the most sought after 1960’s tribute acts around; based in the south west of the UK the band have a 2016 tour being planned taking in Bristol, Bath, Bournemouth, Plymouth, Birmingham and other cities throughout the UK, with a European leg starting in August with a huge tribute festival in the Netherlands. The tour has to fit around all the private party bookings they already have booked.

Part of the attraction of The Beach Boys Band show is that it appeals to all ages, the many and varied evergreen Beach Boys’ hits together with the mass exposure they have received over the years have become part of the very fabric of everyday life.

The show’s unique content is such that it is melodic enough for a sit down audience yet at the same time, has the energy and drive to inspire people wishing to dance the night away!

The Beach Boys Band create a place where familiarity and nostalgia come together, making it a night to remember.
On leaving their Show, you may have rain in your face, but you’ll be taking home sunshine in your hearts.

The five members of The Beach Boys Band all share a passion for Beach Boys music, enjoying material, both from the early sixties and the later years. Delivering the songs that everyone knows and loves, from the finesse and sheer beauty of God Only Knows to the pulsating masterpiece Good Vibrations, The Beach Boys Band deliver a live performance that reflects both their enthusiasm for their work and mastery of a genre of music that is generally accepted as being both complicated and difficult to perform live.

A Show of technical excellence – both vocal and instrumentally The complex recordings of the original Beach Boys reproduced live, by just five performers! HITS TO LISTEN TO! HITS TO SING TO! HITS TO DANCE TO! Heart Warming Comedy Drama in Newquay

By John | Published August 17, 2016

Heart Warming Comedy Drama ‘Lettice and Lovage’
Opening at Newquay’s Lane Theatre this August
———————————————-

Newquay’s Lane Theatre brings Peter Shaffers enchanting and heart-warming comedy drama ‘Lettice and Lovage’ for a seven week run from Wednesday 31st August.

‘Lettice and Lovage is something new for Lane Theatre as it is not only a beautifully crafted play but it also has something important to say. Not only enchanting and heart-warming, this is an intelligent, comedy drama for all generations with a very funny patriotic thread,’ said Director David Julius Faulkner.

David makes a welcome return to Lane Theatre with this beautifully crafted play by Peter Shaffer who sadly died a few months ago.

Written especially for Maggie Smith and Margaret Tyzack to play two middle aged women who take it upon themselves to plot to destroy the ugly and preserve the beautiful and elegant buildings of our capital city.

But David has his own star cast with two award-winning actresses, Jean Lenton and Soozie Tinn. However, all eyes will no doubt be on Milo the cat, who makes a show stopping portrayal as Felina, Queen of sorrows, in the second act.

Staging Lettice and Lovage has been a challenge. David has designed a metamorphic staircase which he hopes will be a visual delight as it moves around the stage, apparently all by itself, creating the various scenes in the play.

‘Following the Brexit vote and the appalling rise of terrorism, Lettice and Lovage may be more relevant today than when it was written,’ said David.

‘I think Peter Shaffer was inspired to write the play following a comment by Prince Charles who described certain modern architecture as, “like a monstrous carbuncle on the face of a much loved and elegant friend.’

Peter Shaffer himself once remarked: ‘My plays all get a very strong reaction from the audience; that’s why one wants to write plays … I don’t set out to stir up controversy, you write plays because you can’t help it … but it’s true that my plays are often about revenge … it’s a very urgent theme in today’s life.’

As a director David has had great success by choosing plays which challenge both actors and audiences alike. Back in the nineties and early naughty’s, as well as acting in several productions at Lane Theatre, David directed Whose Life Is It Anyway and Pinocchio (which he wrote for the Lane Theatre.)

For several years David has been the Artistic Director of Open Road Theatre Company whose past very successful productions include; Trouble With Ted, Burtenshaw, Antigone, Lunchtime Concert (which came second in the All England One Act Festival final) Cheat The Reaper (which he also wrote), Dinner and Hitler Dances. David has recently translated and adapted an Italian play Crime on Goat Island, which he hopes to direct for Lane Theatre as their spring production in 2017.

Lettice and Lovage can be seen at Newquay’s Lane Theatre (possibly the finest traditional theatre in Cornwall) from Wednesday 31st August and then every Tuesday and Wednesday until 12th October. Curtain up at 8pm.

Wild Tribe

By Andrew | Published June 17, 2016

Wild Tribe at Trevornick Holiday Park
Follow Wild Ranger Craig and the Wild Tribe team down to the woodland and experience extraordinary adventures in the Great Outdoors.

Get in touch with your wild side as you learn all sorts of bush crafts, from building dens and bug hotels, to lighting fires and foraging for nature’s edible bounty. Whatever ingredients you find you won’t go hungry, as there’s always a supply of marshmallows ready to roast over the flames. Tapping into your spirit of adventure, our hands-on Wild Tribe sessions ensure kids of all ages will have fun learning practical skills in the natural environment. Identify bugs, butterflies and birds, and see how many species you can record in an hour, create wild art with the natural materials you gather, and complete challenges as you put your basic survival skills to the test.

Most of our Wild Tribe adventures take place in Trevornick’s woodland, but sometimes we break out to explore the wonders of coastline, hunting for critters in the rock-pools and looking out for marine life on seaside safaris. Wild Tribe is suitable for kids aged 5–12 years old. Parents are welcome to join in too, and must accompany children under 8.

We are opening our Wild Tribe adventures to non residents of Trevornick out of the main season, and have a FREE taster day on Saturday 18th June between 10am-4pm. No booking necessary – drop in and out throughout the day!
