Run Falmouth 2017

By Andrew | Published January 27, 2017

2017 will mark the sixth year of Run Falmouth, a half marathon that’s organised by Cornish charity Cornwall Hospice Care in conjunction with the Falmouth Road Runners. The event is part of the Cornwall Glass and Glazing Grand Prix Series and last year attracted 500 runners. Affiliated and non-affiliated runners aged 18 and over can enter by visiting the charity’s website at www.cornwallhospicecare.co.uk

Run Falmouth 2017 on Sunday 12th March will follow a challenging 13.1 mile route that was newly created last year and takes runners past stunning coastal and countryside scenery. Starting near Pendennis Castle, the route also takes in Gyllyngvase Beach, Swanpool and Maenporth beaches. Runners then head inland passing through the village of Mawnan Smith and around the outskirts of Budock Water, before turning back to the finish at the Falmouth Hotel.

Oliver Hoare, Head of Fundraising at Cornwall Hospice Care, says it’s a visually attractive half marathon, but not for the faint hearted;

Raymond Froggatt @ Lane Theatre

By Andrew | Published January 27, 2017

Raymond Froggatt
and his Frog Band

Froggie, as he is known by his army of fans, started his working days as a pipe lagger, night time would be spent singing in the pubs and secretly writing poetry in his spare time, a great talent that maybe would have stayed hidden if not for the illness. Once he started to recover from his illness Froggie decided to advertise for musicians to put together a Band, four very talented musicians called The Monopoly were to become Froggie’s new Band.

Before long Froggie became signed to the top record companies of the time POLYDOR, BELL, JET WARNER, his writing talents also led to his signing to major publishing houses a great honour as his songs were being recorded by artist all over the country and abroad. CLIFF RICHARD, DAVE CLARK FIVE to name but a few.

Froggie & his concerts are sold out across the country and abroad, the Froggie followers arrive at the shows clutching their frogs with green scarves waving, certainly a sight to behold. Froggie writes and sings his own songs mesmerising his audience, making them laugh with one of his many stories or cry with emotion with a song that touches the heart like no other. Raymond also released another album of songs to coincide with this new tour. An evening with Raymond Froggatt is pure magic, an evening not to be missed.

The School for Scandal @ Lane Theatre

By Andrew | Published January 27, 2017

Camp Theatre presents Richard Brinsley Sheridan’s hilarious comedy; The School for Scandal.

Attempted seduction, thwarted love, celebrity marital discord, a family feud.

The column inches of the popular press gossip pages have their readers drooling at the salacious scandal. The tabloid press in 2017 ? No, it’s the late eighteenth century and George the third is on the throne.

Almost two hundred and forty years after its first production The School for Scandal remains as fresh and relevant to modern society as it was when it opened at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane on 8th May 1777. A contemporary critic wrote “The School for Scandal is…perhaps the most finished and faultless comedy which we have. People all around are exclaiming ‘Surely it is impossible for anything to be cleverer’. Besides the wit and ingenuity of this play there is a genial spirit of frankness and generosity about it that relieves the heart as well as clears the lungs”.

The School for Scandal is, not without reason, the most performed comedy in the history of British Theatre and promises to delight even the most sophisticated of modern audiences.

Location/ Venue – Lane Theatre, Newquay.

Time – 7.30 pm

Price – £10/ £9 concessions

PARKING

There will be two zones available for festival parking to avoid traffic congestion with the small town that we live in, to look after the best interests of this beautiful area we have. Please allow plenty of time to get to the festival taking into consideration any hold ups by leaving with plenty of time. There will be no available parking in Perranporth due to the high volume of traffic, so it is important to purchase these tickets in advance.

ZONE A – PERRANPORTH RUGBY CLUB

This will be suited mainly for people coming from Newquay and Goonhavern routes.

ZONE B – STATION ROAD CAR PARK

This will be suited mainly for people coming from Truro, St. Agnes and Threemilestone routes. We will be using the car park just behind Co Op.
