Headliners announced for Boardmasters

By Andrew | Published February 5, 2016

It’s that time of year again. Yes, the wait is over and Boardmasters have cooked up a fantastic line up yet again for the 2016 instalment of the festival with the first headliners announced.

Brit and Grammy Award nominee, James Bay was the first act to be confirmed to headline the three day music spectacular. Bay is famous for his notable hits; Hold Back the River, which reached number 2 in the UK charts and Let It Go, which was also a top 10 UK single for the British singer-songwriter. Both feature on his 2015 Platinum-selling album Chaos and the Calm.

Also announced to headline Boardmasters 2016 are the Kaiser Chiefs whose frontman Ricky Wilson is currently a mentor on talent show The Voice UK. Of course, they are most famous for I Predict a Riot and Ruby from the album Employment and fans will be hoping they showcase some of their new hits at Boardmasters.

Craig David, Jamie Lawson (recently became the first act signed to Ed Sheeran’s record label), MNEK, Wolf Alice, Example, Sigma as well as Gabrielle Aplin who is most famous for her cover of The Power of Love.

With more acts still to be announced, we are all in for a treat if the first wave of acts are anything to go by.

Beauty and the Beast @ Lane Theatre

By Andrew | Published September 13, 2015

Fun Factory Spotlight presents
Beauty and the Beast

Pantomime

A profesional pantomime in the run up to Christmas has become a regular in the Lane Theatre Diary.

Featuring an excellent cast of professional actors, Beauty and the Beast has all the elements you would expect from a Fame Factory Spotlight production. Written by Scott Clarkson an established writer of successful pantomimes and award winning children’s shows, Beauty and the Beast delivers everything you would want from a pantomime.

In our version of Beauty and the Beast, you will experience comedy in bucket loads delivered by our larger than life Dame Muck-it-Up who is ably assisted by the dim witted and playful comedy character Raggins.

Following closely to the original story – the Evil Witch casts a dastardly spell on the handsome Prince, turning him into a Beast. Tricking the beautiful Belladonna, the Evil Witch forces her to be imprisoned within the home of the Beast. Living with someone so ugly, Belladonna slowly begins to see the man behind the mask and see the Prince for who he really is. Only true love can save the Prince and free our heroine before the petals on the encased rose fall.

With bags of comedy mishaps, gags, dances and songs this really is a fantastic fun show for all of the family offering something for both boys and girls along the way. A great fast paced hilarious pantomime kids and adults will love.

Beauty and the Beast is a spectacular and magical pantomime with added Fame Factory Spotlight sparkle which promises comedy, fun, craziness, moments of tenderness and romantic heart stopping moments too. Not to mention lots of topical references and audience participation with songs we all know and love.

Families of all ages won’t be able to help but sing along and laugh out loud.

Tickets £7.50

The 39 Steps @ Lane Theatre

By Andrew | Published September 13, 2015

Fourthwall Contemporary Theatre presents
The 39 STEPS

Adapted by Patrick Barlow and directed by Peter Dann

This classic tale is based on John Buchan’s ground-breaking 1915 novel, Alfred Hitchcock’s iconic 1935 movie and Nobby Dimon & Simon Corble’s zany notion of doing the whole thing with just four actors playing one hundred and thirty nine roles!

All the excitement, romance and humour of Hitchcock’s masterpiece: the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge, the first theatrical plane crash ever staged and the (nearly) death-defying finale at the London Palladium are featured in this 10th year Anniversary Fourthwall production.

Based in the West Country, Fourthwall have become well known for their exciting tours, taking thought-provoking, contemporary theatre into local communities. They have captivated delighted audiences for almost a decade.

Tickets £10.00 / £8.00 concessions
