SUMMARY:Rainbow Run
DESCRIPTION:An explosion of colour has been forecast for this summer by children’s charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as it recently announced that its Rainbow Run will be returning in June to its home at RAF St Mawgan. \nThe 5km sponsored fun run is now in it’s 6th year and will be returning to RAF St Mawgan in Newquay on Sunday 23rd June. Tickets are now on sale and are expected to prove popular as last year’s event saw 1500 people take part and around £75\,000 raised for the charity which runs three children’s hospices in the region including Little Harbour in St Austell. \nOnce again the event is being generously sponsored by Anns Cottage as well as each paint station being sponsored by additional local businesses. \nKiley Pearce\, Events Fundraiser for CHSW is already excited for the return of Cornwall’s most colourful 5km; “Rainbow Run is all about having fun with your friends and family while getting covered in all colours of the rainbow. Having fun and creating memories is really important for the families that we support at Little Harbour so it feels very fitting that this event embraces all those things while raising vital funds for our hospice.” \nLittle Harbour provides short breaks and respite for local children with life limiting and life-threatening illnesses. The purpose-built hospice at Porthpean in St Austell is now supporting 130 children and their families from across Cornwall and Plymouth. It provides an opportunity for families to rest\, make special memories while receiving expert care and support in a home from home environment. \nThe early bird offer giving 25% off tickets will be running until 1st April\, at the reduced price of £15 for an adult and £9 for a child. Anyone over the age of 5 can take part and people can run\, jog or walk the 5km – it is not a race\, it is about having fun! \nTo sign up for the Rainbow Run visit www.chsw.org.uk/rainbownewquay \n-Ends- \n  \nNotes to Editors: \nPhotograph: A group at the finish line at the 2018 Rainbow Run which raised around £75\,000 for Children’s Hospice South West \nChildren’s Hospice South West (CHSW) \n\nChildren’s Hospice South West was first registered with the charity commission in 1991 and celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2016\nIt is dedicated to making the most of short and precious lives\, providing the best possible hospice care for life-limited children and their families\nThere are three hospices in the South West: Little Bridge House in Barnstaple (opened 1995)\, Charlton Farm in Bristol (opened 2007) and Little Harbour in St Austell (opened 2011)\nCHSW is the only children’s hospice in the South West. It costs around £9million to run the 3 hospice sites each year and the charity relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions\n\n\nCHSW delivers a range of services including short breaks\, specialist play\, music therapy\, activities for siblings\, palliative and emergency care\, end of life care\, bereavement support and specialist medical care – all available 24 hours a day\, 365 days a year\nThe services are free for families. SUMMARY:Oye Santana - Lane Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Thursday 17th May 2018\n8.00 pm\nOye Santana\nThe Music of Carlos Santana\nReturn to Lane Theatre\nThe summer last year was brought to a stunning climax by the performance of this wonderful group of musicians at the Lane theatre. A standing ovation and cries of encore followed their performance! \nWhat made them special –well firstly the music. There’s a treasury of more than four decades of Santana catalogue to draw on\, and every number in the set is a gem in its own right. Then there’s the musicianship. Check out the credentials of Milan ‘Carlos’ Webb; of Gez Kahan and Hector Gomez; the astonishing breadth of abilities that Paul Murphy\, Pete Lockwood and Jon Quirk bring to the on-stage set-up. This really is a feast of musical talent. \nNext there’s the authenticity. The band could go off on self-indulgent flights of fancy\, but they don’t. Painstakingly they recreate the original Santana arrangements of the big hits that you know and love to bring you the true Santana sound. But playing the right notes is only a start. There’s much more to being the Best Santana Tribute in the World… \nThere’s the passion. Carlos Santana’s guitar playing is instantly recognizable not just because of his tone or his trademark licks\, but because of the emotion he puts into every note he plays. Oyé Santana has that covered. And there’s the good-time feel. Every track is a fiesta ! \nAnd every Oyé Santana performance is a show\, a visual feast of lights and action that will have you singing and smiling along from the first chink of a tambourine to the explosive finale. You’re going to love Oyé Santana. To see why\, click the link to their website\, and watch their show-reel. \nReviews \n\nSantana and his eponymous band have been blending Mexican passion with rock energy since the 1960s: Oyé Santana captures that heady blend with uncanny feeling. Yes\, they faultlessly reproduced the music; they are accomplished musicians in their own rights. But more than that\, they conjured up the atmosphere\, the sheer hedonistic abandon to rhythm that lifts Santana from music to passionate maelstrom. This was no pale ‘photo copy’ of another band …they build a stunning performance.\n\nJohn Hancock\, St Ives Times & Echo \n\nYou came west and were the best! The comments made by those who saw you on Saturday couldn’t praise the gig enough. The professionalism of the band stood out in all aspects of the gig\, from the sound check right through to the encore. And\, may we say\, what a nice bunch of guys. It’s true what they say: “Close your eyes and you can’t tell the difference” – Oyé Santana clearly are one of the Best Tribute Bands Around!\n\nAndy Percy\, Anjen Events\, Cornwall \n\nSantana’s legacy is in the best possible hands.\n\nPete Feenstra\, promoter & radio presenter \nLinks \nOyé Santana Website \nVideo Links \nMain Showreel \nhttp://youtu.be/G37IWecZRH0 \nDebut single (Mas Que Nada) \nhttp://youtu.be/SpwKpUwoGoI \nWhile My Guitar Gently Weeps \nhttp://youtu.be/92Xpt8o_928 \nBlack Magic Woman (pre-production mix) \nhttp://youtu.be/tmteg-Erqag \nEuropa (pre-production mix) \nhttp://youtu.be/z8KsVnQPGiI \nMaria Maria (pre-production mix) \nhttp://youtu.be/l1Z903BUQYk \nTickets £16\nBOOK ONLINE NOW
