SUMMARY:Crantock Bale Push
DESCRIPTION:20 YEARS AND STILL ROLLING ON \nThe 20th BALE PUSH 2019 starts rolling in Crantock Village on Friday September 13th at 5pm\, and this year will once again be supporting many key Cornish projects close to the heart of Crantock village and making donations to the Sunrise Appeal\, The Cove Amenity Fund\, as well as other local groups and organisations. \n‘Crantock Bale Push would not take place at all were it not for the generosity and practical help and support of our many sponsors among local businesses and the residents of Crantock.’ said Chairperson\, Nigel Eustice.\n \n‘We expect to welcome an estimated 100 teams of four eager to roll straw bales around Crantock village. All starting at 5 pm with the Under 8’s followed by the Under 12’s\, Under 16’s\, also the Ladies race\, who all race each other over shorter distances’. \n‘Then\, of course\, the big ones the Open\, and the Veterans Races. Both races are over the full quarter of a mile through the village up and down hills\, pushing a full size round bale of straw\, weighing approximately 420lbs and measuring 4’ 6″ in diameter starting and finishing between the two village pubs\, The Old Albion and the Cornishman who also support the village so much socially\, especially on Bale Push night with live music from 1940’s Crooner Andy Marshall\, with late night entertainment in both pubs’. \n \nCrantock Bale Push has now become an essential part of Crantock life providing great fun\, excitement and healthy competition for all ages\, while also raising a great deal of money for local organisations and charities. The total raised by the Crantock Bale Push since 2000 now tops an astonishing £108\,500\, and all this money has been donated to Cornish people. \nRemember\, you don’t have to be mad to take part – but it helps!” \nVisit the Crantock Bale Push website for more details about how you can take part. \n

SUMMARY:Rainbow Run
DESCRIPTION:An explosion of colour has been forecast for this summer by children’s charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as it recently announced that its Rainbow Run will be returning in June to its home at RAF St Mawgan. \nThe 5km sponsored fun run is now in it’s 6th year and will be returning to RAF St Mawgan in Newquay on Sunday 23rd June. Tickets are now on sale and are expected to prove popular as last year’s event saw 1500 people take part and around £75\,000 raised for the charity which runs three children’s hospices in the region including Little Harbour in St Austell. \nOnce again the event is being generously sponsored by Anns Cottage as well as each paint station being sponsored by additional local businesses. \nKiley Pearce\, Events Fundraiser for CHSW is already excited for the return of Cornwall’s most colourful 5km; “Rainbow Run is all about having fun with your friends and family while getting covered in all colours of the rainbow. Having fun and creating memories is really important for the families that we support at Little Harbour so it feels very fitting that this event embraces all those things while raising vital funds for our hospice.” \nLittle Harbour provides short breaks and respite for local children with life limiting and life-threatening illnesses. The purpose-built hospice at Porthpean in St Austell is now supporting 130 children and their families from across Cornwall and Plymouth. It provides an opportunity for families to rest\, make special memories while receiving expert care and support in a home from home environment. \nThe early bird offer giving 25% off tickets will be running until 1st April\, at the reduced price of £15 for an adult and £9 for a child. Anyone over the age of 5 can take part and people can run\, jog or walk the 5km – it is not a race\, it is about having fun! \nTo sign up for the Rainbow Run visit www.chsw.org.uk/rainbownewquay \n-Ends- \n  \nNotes to Editors: \nPhotograph: A group at the finish line at the 2018 Rainbow Run which raised around £75\,000 for Children’s Hospice South West \nChildren’s Hospice South West (CHSW) \n\nChildren’s Hospice South West was first registered with the charity commission in 1991 and celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2016\nIt is dedicated to making the most of short and precious lives\, providing the best possible hospice care for life-limited children and their families\nThere are three hospices in the South West: Little Bridge House in Barnstaple (opened 1995)\, Charlton Farm in Bristol (opened 2007) and Little Harbour in St Austell (opened 2011)\nCHSW is the only children’s hospice in the South West. It costs around £9million to run the 3 hospice sites each year and the charity relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions\n\n\nCHSW delivers a range of services including short breaks\, specialist play\, music therapy\, activities for siblings\, palliative and emergency care\, end of life care\, bereavement support and specialist medical care – all available 24 hours a day\, 365 days a year\nThe services are free for families. SUMMARY:Lord Arthur Savile's Crime
DESCRIPTION:Camp Theatre presents\nLord Arthur Savile’s Crime\nby Oscar Wilde\nFriday 26th October 2018\n7.30 pm\nLane Theatre is to play host to another fantastic production from Camp Theatre. \nLord Arthur Savile\, a wealthy young man\, is blissfully happy as he approaches his impending marriage to Sybil but her mother\, Lady Julia is less enthusiastic. To ensure that he will be faithful she enlists the services of a palm reader to guarantee a blameless married life. Unknown to his future mother-in-law Lord Arthur learns that he is to commit a murder. Determined to commit the act BEFORE the wedding he plans to rid himself of either his charming old aunt with a gambling problem or his uncle\, the Dean of Paddington. Aided by his faithful butler and an eccentric Russian anarchist he embarks on a campaign that involves poisoning\, explosions and violent death. Will he succeed? How many times can a wedding be postponed? And why does Lord Arthur have an imaginary dog? Adapted by Constance Cox from a short story by Oscar Wilde this charming comedy is packed full of Wildean wit with a rich cast of characters. \nThe Camp Theatre Company was formed in 1994 and is a not for profit Community Theatre Company that has raised over £55\,000 for a variety of local\, national and international charities with the profits made from more than fifty productions. The company has been touring for over ten years and has been a regular feature at The Lane Theatre for the last few years. The  husband/wife duo met in North Carolina 2012. September 2017 saw the release of Mac and Laura’s EP ‘First Light’ recorded with folk producer Andy Bell (Jon Boden\, Seth Lakeman\, Martin Simpson). \nCiiTTEN \nCat Whatley\, aka Ciitten\, is a British singer\, songwriter and musician based in Cornwall. Having moved to Cornwall from London\, Cat has used her music to truly express herself. Her lyrics are unapologetically honest\, drawing on personal experiences to create her 90s inspired melodies. Highlighting personal battles with social anxiety\, she shares them with the world and helps bring mental health issues to the forefront. \nTHE GRIZZLY MILLIONS \nGrizzly Millions – A three piece from North Cornwall delivering big melodies and cunning stories wrapped up with powerful riffs.  It’s kinda rock\, but with a little bit of blues and a healthy dose of soul.  In fact you are best off coming to see us and making up you own mind. \nTHE GRENAWAYS \nThe Grenaways could be said to be mining the rich veins of inspirational ore that course through their home turf of Cornwall where they add a sense of their own ties to the region and especially it’s Celtic heritage. But\, they are a band set for far wider horizons with a massive and alternative sound billowing through their musical sails.  They are rootsy storytellers\, unique in the folk style\, with songs that are rich in nautical undertones\, influenced so much by the sea\, its people and coastal living.
