SUMMARY:Crantock Bale Push
DESCRIPTION:20 YEARS AND STILL ROLLING ON \nThe 20th BALE PUSH 2019 starts rolling in Crantock Village on Friday September 13th at 5pm\, and this year will once again be supporting many key Cornish projects close to the heart of Crantock village and making donations to the Sunrise Appeal\, The Cove Amenity Fund\, as well as other local groups and organisations. \n‘Crantock Bale Push would not take place at all were it not for the generosity and practical help and support of our many sponsors among local businesses and the residents of Crantock.’ said Chairperson\, Nigel Eustice.\n \n‘We expect to welcome an estimated 100 teams of four eager to roll straw bales around Crantock village. All starting at 5 pm with the Under 8’s followed by the Under 12’s\, Under 16’s\, also the Ladies race\, who all race each other over shorter distances’. \n‘Then\, of course\, the big ones the Open\, and the Veterans Races. Both races are over the full quarter of a mile through the village up and down hills\, pushing a full size round bale of straw\, weighing approximately 420lbs and measuring 4’ 6″ in diameter starting and finishing between the two village pubs\, The Old Albion and the Cornishman who also support the village so much socially\, especially on Bale Push night with live music from 1940’s Crooner Andy Marshall\, with late night entertainment in both pubs’. \n \nCrantock Bale Push has now become an essential part of Crantock life providing great fun\, excitement and healthy competition for all ages\, while also raising a great deal of money for local organisations and charities. The total raised by the Crantock Bale Push since 2000 now tops an astonishing £108\,500\, and all this money has been donated to Cornish people. \nRemember\, you don’t have to be mad to take part – but it helps!” \nVisit the Crantock Bale Push website for more details about how you can take part. \n

SUMMARY:Lord Arthur Savile's Crime
DESCRIPTION:Camp Theatre presents\nLord Arthur Savile’s Crime\nby Oscar Wilde\nFriday 26th October 2018\n7.30 pm\nLane Theatre is to play host to another fantastic production from Camp Theatre. \nLord Arthur Savile\, a wealthy young man\, is blissfully happy as he approaches his impending marriage to Sybil but her mother\, Lady Julia is less enthusiastic. To ensure that he will be faithful she enlists the services of a palm reader to guarantee a blameless married life. Unknown to his future mother-in-law Lord Arthur learns that he is to commit a murder. Determined to commit the act BEFORE the wedding he plans to rid himself of either his charming old aunt with a gambling problem or his uncle\, the Dean of Paddington. Aided by his faithful butler and an eccentric Russian anarchist he embarks on a campaign that involves poisoning\, explosions and violent death. Will he succeed? How many times can a wedding be postponed? And why does Lord Arthur have an imaginary dog? Adapted by Constance Cox from a short story by Oscar Wilde this charming comedy is packed full of Wildean wit with a rich cast of characters. \nThe Camp Theatre Company was formed in 1994 and is a not for profit Community Theatre Company that has raised over £55\,000 for a variety of local\, national and international charities with the profits made from more than fifty productions. The company has been touring for over ten years and has been a regular feature at The Lane Theatre for the last few years. Sterts Theatre is East Cornwall’s premier theatre venue with its 400 seat tented amphitheatre playing host to a wide range of visiting theatre companies\, musicians\, dancers and comedians over the past thirty years as well as producing several “In House” productions each summer. The two company’s last co-production was “Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?” which toured the South West in 2007. \nTickets £10.00 \nBOOK ONLINE NOW

SUMMARY:Beats on the Beach
DESCRIPTION:Beats on the Beach \nGig fundraiser at the Watering Hole\, Perranporth \nFriday 19th October 2018 20:30 – 01:00 \n4 bands\, 10 pounds\, 1 great cause \nBook tickets online: https://www.thewateringhole.co.uk/event/the-wave-project-presents-beats-on-the-beach/ \nA storm is on the horizon.  Four Cornish acts takeover the Watering Hole stage to raise funds for the Wave Project Charity.  A Charity that delivers evidence-based surf therapy programs for mental health and well-being. Help us continue our powerful project that helps others change their lives for the better by coming along to this amazing line up\, a night to remember for all involved. \nSchedule\n21:30 – 22:00  Mac & Laura \n22:15 – 23:00 Ciiten \n23:15 – 00:00 Grizzly Millions \n00:15 – 01:00 Grenaways\n\nMac & Laura \nMac and Laura\, bring an uplifting blend of American and British alternative folk\, with country bluegrass roots and harmonies that are rich and dynamic. The  husband/wife duo met in North Carolina 2012. September 2017 saw the release of Mac and Laura’s EP ‘First Light’ recorded with folk producer Andy Bell (Jon Boden\, Seth Lakeman\, Martin Simpson). \nCiiTTEN \nCat Whatley\, aka Ciitten\, is a British singer\, songwriter and musician based in Cornwall. Having moved to Cornwall from London\, Cat has used her music to truly express herself. Her lyrics are unapologetically honest\, drawing on personal experiences to create her 90s inspired melodies. Highlighting personal battles with social anxiety\, she shares them with the world and helps bring mental health issues to the forefront. \nTHE GRIZZLY MILLIONS \nGrizzly Millions – A three piece from North Cornwall delivering big melodies and cunning stories wrapped up with powerful riffs.  It’s kinda rock\, but with a little bit of blues and a healthy dose of soul.  In fact you are best off coming to see us and making up you own mind. \nTHE GRENAWAYS \nThe Grenaways could be said to be mining the rich veins of inspirational ore that course through their home turf of Cornwall where they add a sense of their own ties to the region and especially it’s Celtic heritage. But\, they are a band set for far wider horizons with a massive and alternative sound billowing through their musical sails.  They are rootsy storytellers\, unique in the folk style\, with songs that are rich in nautical undertones\, influenced so much by the sea\, its people and coastal living.

The total raised by the Crantock Bale Push since 2000 now tops an astonishing £100\,478. \nRemember\, you don’t have to be mad to take part – but it helps!”

SUMMARY:Newquay Bat Trail
DESCRIPTION:Spooky bats are taking over the town this Halloween\, help Newquay BID find them all! \nBats are taking up residence in businesses across the town and Newquay BID is inviting families to search for them in order to win treats this Halloween. \nThe competition\, created by Newquay Business Improvement District (BID)\, involves children (accompanied by an adult) following the trail to help find the hidden bats. Participants just need to solve the clues to find the business locations. Clue sheets will be made available from the Tourist Information Centre from Saturday 21st October. \nParticipating businesses will give each child a stamp on their clue sheet once they have been into the shop. Once the clue sheet has been completed it can be handed to Newquay Tourist Information Centre where the keen Bat Collectors can claim a Halloween treat! The trail does not have to be completed all in one day and budding bat adventurers have until Monday 30th October to return their completed sheet. \nThe Bat Trail has been developed by Newquay (BID) as a means of generating footfall throughout the town\, giving families a free and fun activity to participate in during half term\, and to encourage Halloween spirit in the run up to this year’s Zombie Crawl on Saturday 28th October. \nThe bats placed in Newquay businesses are being especially created by Trenance Learning Academy so the Bat Trail will also give pupils the chance to see their artwork displayed and enjoyed throughout the high street for the half-term period. \nLocal businesses are keen to take part in the Halloween antics: the Halloween Shop Window Competition will return this year and local businesses of all kinds will be creating ghoulish displays for all to see. A judging panel will rate the entries and one lucky business with receive £500 worth of advertising with Newquay Voice. \nThe Bat Trail and Shop Window Competition form part of the BID’s strategic priorities to support business and help create footfall\, raise awareness\, and promote engagement in the town centre. \nCarla – Marie Jones\, Newquay BID manager\, says “We are pleased to be running the Bat Trail again this year providing a fun\, free activity for residents and visitors alike\, where they can get involved with the local businesses and enjoy the Halloween festivities. We’ve had great feedback from the previous trails from families and the businesses: we are really looking forward to seeing lots of children taking part and enjoying the trail again this year” \nFor more information on the Bat Trail and the other Halloween events and activities\, go to www.newquaybid.co.uk

SUMMARY:Quartet @ Lane Theatre
DESCRIPTION:Friday 20th October 2017\n7.30 pm\nCamp Theatre presents\nQUARTET\nWilf\, Cissy and Reggie are three elderly opera stars calmly living out the autumn of their lives in a retirement home for musicians. They are contemplating how to celebrate the birthday anniversary of Guiseppi Verdi. The daily equilibrium is disrupted by the arrival of Reggie’s ex-wife Jean who acts like a diva and refuses to sing.  \nPopularised by a very successful film starring Billy Connolly\, Pauline Collins\, Tom Courtenay and Maggie Smith this bittersweet comedy is\, by turns\, both funny and poignant. As the evening unfolds many questions are answered: Exactly how long did Jean and Reggie’s marriage last? What would Wilf like to do with Cissy in the herbaceous borders? SUMMARY:Crantock Bale Push
DESCRIPTION:As many of you will know we always support Cornish based charities\, organisations and individuals. We feel it is important that all as the money is raised in Cornwall it should made available to help Cornish people. As there are so many good causes to support it is always difficult to make a final decision and this year has been no exception! \n\nHowever\, for the 2017 Bale Push we have chosen Crantock Christmas Lights\, Cubert School PTA and CLIC Sargent as our main organisations. Here is a little information about each one…. \n \nCRANTOCK CHRISTMAS LIGHTS \nIt was decided that Crantock Village needed new lights to brighten up our lovely village during the festive period. So\, a small group of merry fundraisers has set out to raise funds for to purchase new lights. \nWe have successfully applied for a grant of £500 from the Cubert and Crantock Community Benefit Trust and have a number of other projects on the go which will raise much needed funds to add to the “pot”! \n \nCUBERT SCHOOL PTA \nCubert School is extending its classroom provision and the new classrooms and play areas will be completed shortly. The PTA are at present very busy fundraising to provide new equipment for the play areas – they have lots of events planned this summer for example quizzes\, a Summer Fete and Duck Races at Holywell Beach. The Bale Push supported Cubert School Football Team as few year back so new built almost ready so we have decided to help! \nCLIC SARGENT \nWe have not supported CLIC Sargent for several years and decided that it was time to put this right! This fabulous charity provides a holistic approach to supporting children and their families\, with a network of support throughout the UK providing immediate help to those in need. The Royal Cornwall Hospital has a specially dedicated Ward\, treatment areas\, specialist nurses\, social workers and doctors to support the child and families from throughout the treatment process. CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children\, young people and their families. Our care teams have been providing specialist support across the UK for years.
