SUMMARY:Rainbow Run
DESCRIPTION:An explosion of colour has been forecast for this summer by children’s charity Children’s Hospice South West (CHSW) as it recently announced that its Rainbow Run will be returning in June to its home at RAF St Mawgan. \nThe 5km sponsored fun run is now in it’s 6th year and will be returning to RAF St Mawgan in Newquay on Sunday 23rd June. Tickets are now on sale and are expected to prove popular as last year’s event saw 1500 people take part and around £75\,000 raised for the charity which runs three children’s hospices in the region including Little Harbour in St Austell. \nOnce again the event is being generously sponsored by Anns Cottage as well as each paint station being sponsored by additional local businesses. \nKiley Pearce\, Events Fundraiser for CHSW is already excited for the return of Cornwall’s most colourful 5km; “Rainbow Run is all about having fun with your friends and family while getting covered in all colours of the rainbow. Having fun and creating memories is really important for the families that we support at Little Harbour so it feels very fitting that this event embraces all those things while raising vital funds for our hospice.” \nLittle Harbour provides short breaks and respite for local children with life limiting and life-threatening illnesses. The purpose-built hospice at Porthpean in St Austell is now supporting 130 children and their families from across Cornwall and Plymouth. It provides an opportunity for families to rest\, make special memories while receiving expert care and support in a home from home environment. \nThe early bird offer giving 25% off tickets will be running until 1st April\, at the reduced price of £15 for an adult and £9 for a child. Anyone over the age of 5 can take part and people can run\, jog or walk the 5km – it is not a race\, it is about having fun! \nTo sign up for the Rainbow Run visit www.chsw.org.uk/rainbownewquay \n-Ends- \n  \nNotes to Editors: \nPhotograph: A group at the finish line at the 2018 Rainbow Run which raised around £75\,000 for Children’s Hospice South West \nChildren’s Hospice South West (CHSW) \n\nChildren’s Hospice South West was first registered with the charity commission in 1991 and celebrated its 25th Anniversary in 2016\nIt is dedicated to making the most of short and precious lives\, providing the best possible hospice care for life-limited children and their families\nThere are three hospices in the South West: Little Bridge House in Barnstaple (opened 1995)\, Charlton Farm in Bristol (opened 2007) and Little Harbour in St Austell (opened 2011)\nCHSW is the only children’s hospice in the South West. It costs around £9million to run the 3 hospice sites each year and the charity relies almost entirely on voluntary contributions\n\n\nCHSW delivers a range of services including short breaks\, specialist play\, music therapy\, activities for siblings\, palliative and emergency care\, end of life care\, bereavement support and specialist medical care – all available 24 hours a day\, 365 days a year\nThe services are free for families. SUMMARY:Beats on the Beach
DESCRIPTION:Beats on the Beach \nGig fundraiser at the Watering Hole\, Perranporth \nFriday 19th October 2018 20:30 – 01:00 \n4 bands\, 10 pounds\, 1 great cause \nBook tickets online: https://www.thewateringhole.co.uk/event/the-wave-project-presents-beats-on-the-beach/ \nA storm is on the horizon.  Four Cornish acts takeover the Watering Hole stage to raise funds for the Wave Project Charity.  A Charity that delivers evidence-based surf therapy programs for mental health and well-being. Help us continue our powerful project that helps others change their lives for the better by coming along to this amazing line up\, a night to remember for all involved. \nSchedule\n21:30 – 22:00  Mac & Laura \n22:15 – 23:00 Ciiten \n23:15 – 00:00 Grizzly Millions \n00:15 – 01:00 Grenaways\n\nMac & Laura \nMac and Laura\, bring an uplifting blend of American and British alternative folk\, with country bluegrass roots and harmonies that are rich and dynamic. The  husband/wife duo met in North Carolina 2012. September 2017 saw the release of Mac and Laura’s EP ‘First Light’ recorded with folk producer Andy Bell (Jon Boden\, Seth Lakeman\, Martin Simpson). \nCiiTTEN \nCat Whatley\, aka Ciitten\, is a British singer\, songwriter and musician based in Cornwall. Having moved to Cornwall from London\, Cat has used her music to truly express herself. Her lyrics are unapologetically honest\, drawing on personal experiences to create her 90s inspired melodies. Highlighting personal battles with social anxiety\, she shares them with the world and helps bring mental health issues to the forefront. \nTHE GRIZZLY MILLIONS \nGrizzly Millions – A three piece from North Cornwall delivering big melodies and cunning stories wrapped up with powerful riffs.  It’s kinda rock\, but with a little bit of blues and a healthy dose of soul.  In fact you are best off coming to see us and making up you own mind. \nTHE GRENAWAYS \nThe Grenaways could be said to be mining the rich veins of inspirational ore that course through their home turf of Cornwall where they add a sense of their own ties to the region and especially it’s Celtic heritage. But\, they are a band set for far wider horizons with a massive and alternative sound billowing through their musical sails.  They are rootsy storytellers\, unique in the folk style\, with songs that are rich in nautical undertones\, influenced so much by the sea\, its people and coastal living.
