SUMMARY:La Dame Blanche @ Eco Park
DESCRIPTION:La Dame Blanche\, Friday 26th May\, doors open from 7:30pm\nLive music from international artist from Cuba in our beautiful Timber Barn with live Djs until 1am \nWith her explosive mix of hip hop\, cumbia\, dancehall and reggae\, the Cuban singer\, flautist and percussionist Yaite Ramos Rodriguez\, aka La Dame Blanche delivers a powerful and compelling sound which summons the spirits. \nThe smoke of an inaugural cigar prior to setting foot on set\, a glass of rum left backstage\, necklaces\, white flowers\, a pristine turban: for her appearances on stage\, la Dame Blanche feeds the energy of the spirits of Santeria\, her Afro-Cuban religion. Born in Havana\, she grew up in the heart of an awe inspiring musical cauldron that included her father\, Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos; an exceptional trombonist and the artistic director of the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club. \nAfter moving to Paris\, she sang in the all-girl salsa band Rumbana\, joined the Grand Orchestre du Splendid\, became a backing singer for Sergent Garcia and a live singer for El Hijo de la Cumbia… experiences that have all gone on to form the extraordinary reggae\, dancehall\, cumbia\, moombathon fusion that is La Dame Blanche. \nTickets for this gig are £12 and are available by clicking the link below or by calling the Eco Park Box Office on 01209 891500 (Tues-Fri during office hours) \nThe Eco Park’s Cantina Cafe will be serving a Cuban inspired freshly made\, delicious\, Vegetarian and Vegan meal from 7:30pm onwards.  More details are coming soon! SUMMARY:The Masked Ball @ Porthleven
DESCRIPTION:The Masked Ball is a spectacular all night party staged in Cornwall by some friends and since its conception in 2006 it has grown into a multilevel party kingdom where themed venues range from outrageous to downright unsavoury and spectacular\, where a mélange of fascinating entertainment emanates from the many nooks and crannies in the ultimate ringmaster’s den of iniquity: myriad rooms\, dens\, dance floors\, hidden bars\, bathtubs\, world-class dance clubs and an unrivaled line-up of underground international DJs… \nCornwall’s biggest dance music festival has added some huge new names to the line-up for its summer shindig. \nThe Masked Ball is going full steam ahead this May by offering thrill seekers a trip like no other – a time-travelling train journey into The Underworld on a site carved into a stunning clifftop location in West Cornwall. \nAnd now its has added some real giants of the electronic music scene to its already bouncing line-up. \nMasked Ball director Kelvin Batt said: “We’re delighted to add Hot Chip and Craig Richards to the already steaming Grand Ball Room disco line-up. Hot Chip will be joining Craig\, San Francisco gay techno pioneers Honey Soundsystem and ball residents Horse Meat Disco.” \nActs previously confirmed included a smattering of Masked Ball favourites\, brushed up with a roster of exciting new acts including: DJ Marky and MC GQ\, 45 Live\, Austin Ato\, Bocawoody\, DJ Food\, Dicky Trisco and Pete Herbert\, Durty Disco\, Felix Dickinson\, Honey Soundsystem\, Horse Meat Disco\, Jelly Jazz\, Justin Robertson\, Loose People\, LTJ Experience\, Man Power\, Norman Jay MBE\, PBR Streetgang\, Psychemajik\, Shit Robot\, Spiritual South\, Space Echo and Tiger and Woods. \nKelvin added: “A Voyage Through The Underworld is a new concept that we’ve been working on for a while and are really lucky to be able to say that we can roll it out this year. We’ve got a train to pick people up at Masked Ball Central Station and transport them around a series of themed venues\, where they can hop off where they like – and really go off the rails. I think everyone’s going to be pretty blown away!” \n“It’s a full journey and we know that’s what the Balllers want – back to the tunnels and shenanigans instead of a stage with some music coming out of it. We want to present a sensory overload.” \nIn keeping with Masked Ball tradition\, some of the venues are being kept hush-hush\, but organisers have revealed the train’s stops will include a 1930s speakeasy club\, a 1970s Bristol Dub Club\, a 1970s New York disco\, and a vintage hip hop joint. \nKelvin added: “This is like a journey through a musical museum. You buy your ticket\, take the ride and get off at a venue that takes your fancy. Just make sure you mind the gap.” \nIn addition to the party towns on the magical mystery tour\, the Masked Ball will also feature the multi-chandeliered and draped Grand Ballroom and The Terrace that overlooks the spectacular Mount’s Bay. Also returning will be The Garden with its twisting trees\, vegetarian Disco J and revellers will be able to revisit Balls Deeper – at a venue entered via slide into a giant ball pool. \nThe Masked Ball will also be going back to Bedlam\, the pimped-out pyjama party accessed through a wardrobe featuring a maze of beds and cuddly toys – which proved a huge hit a few years back – and descended into a huge pillow fight\, where feathers flew. \n“We’re taking the Masked Ball back to its roots\,” said Kelvin. “We’re focussing on the event and shenanigans so we can immerse the ballers more in the surroundings.” \nThe Summer Masked Ball takes place from Friday\, May 26\, to Sunday\, May 28\, at Beacon Crag\, Porthleven\, TR13 9LA. \nThe Friday night warms up with a long table feast in the Grand Ballroom followed by dancing until the early hours. Saturday is the main event running from 6pm until 6am\, while the Sunday Service starts for the dedicated decadent at noon\, ending and midnight. \nTickets for the full weekend\, including the Friday feast\, are now on sale at £69. Original Masked Ball tickets to include camping for both Saturday and Sunday are £55. \n  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Masked Ball isn’t just about the music\, its a surreal and strange sideshow in a night time wonderland. A myriad of rooms\, dance floors\, dens\, hidden bars and unpredictable nano-venues. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Underworld\n\n\n\n\n\n\nArrive at the portal after dusk and take a journey through dark tunnels transporting you into iconic venues and the legendary parties that happened within their walls..you could journey into a Brixton Squat in the 80s\, Chicago blues club in the 40s or iconic New York discos in the late 70s. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Grand Ball Room\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe original ball room. The crown jewel of The Ball since 2006 cut into the cliffs of the manor garden. With stunning views over Mounts Bay expect the red carpet\, chandeliers and boogieing until dawn. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Garden\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDisco till Dawn a little piece of New York cool comes to Cornwall. Attention-whore hipsters\, rowdy lesbians and off-duty DJs compete for space on the dance floor ft. music from some of the finest collectives in the South. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Deck\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCut into the Cliffside in 2012 one of the most beautifully situated venues with stunning views over the Atlantic and solid musical curation by the South West’s funkiest promoters Jelly Jazz. An especially popular place on Sunday to slurp copious amounts of hangover-battling bloodies. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDurty Disco – The Samurai Temple\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDelicate pink blossom floats under the crisp blue sky in a tranquil setting in the mountains of Japan. In the distance a harsh but clean thudding incises the ears. Your horses nostrils flair as a sharp kick to the ribs jolts him forward. Deep bass and piercing treble hits you like a solid wall as your horse slides to a halt. People flooding the streets like water pouring over the broken banks of a river\, climbing and clambering over one another to achieve their ultimate goal. Bells clang and crowds separate and two by two the mighty samurai approach through a sea of red and black lanterns hanging like vultures overhead. Marching towards the temple engulfed by the din of the crowd the samurai halt. Silence ensues as the sea of bodies watching\, willing\, waiting… \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKernow Springs Eco Spa\n\n\n\n\n\n\nKernow Springs Eco Spa return to the ball for another year. Their wood burning hot tubs\, Sauna yurt\, showers and chill out lounge are guaranteed to add a little more glam to your Ball. Read more and book here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCar Parking / Campervans\n\n\n\nIf you are driving to the Ball you will need to purchase a car parking ticket.\nCar parking tickets are £15 and are valid for the entire weekend\, Friday to Monday.\nPlease note that these tickets do not include entry to the festival.\nBuy them here. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Hurly Burly\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe Hurly Burly travels to UK arts and music festivals with a solar powered venue\, equipped with a stage\, lighting\, P.A. and cinema. \nWe provide entertainment\, spectacle\, sparkle and performance for all with our transcendent dance\, comedy laughs\, theatre of the absurd and magical treats. SUMMARY:Josienne Clarke & Ben Walker - Live music
DESCRIPTION:Freshly nominated for the 2017 BBC Folk Award Best Duo (an award they won in 2015) Josienne Clarke and Ben Walker have a unique and captivating sound that forges haunting vocals with intricately expressive guitar sounds. \nTheir ovation-stirring rendition of the traditional ballad ‘The Banks of The Sweet Primroses’ at the televised awards ceremony garnered them an army of fans including Robet Plant\, 6 music’s Cerys Matthews and Rough Trade’s Geoff Travis\, and they went on last year to sign to the latter’s label and release their 5* album ‘Overnight’. \nPraised across the board by the press for its ambition and delicacy\, it is an album of wonder and depth. The classic quality of the songs\, the meticulous beauty of the arrangements\, the blanket-warm production and perfect pairing of exquisite vocals and virtuosic guitar is the culmination of everything these idiosyncratically talented musicians have been working towards since they first met. \nThe supporting act will be Kezia\, a beautiful singer songwriter from Cornwall. Of Kezia\, Lee Trewhel\, Cornish Guardian said: ‘If one musician is worthy of a special mention this year it’s Kezia\, the young singer-songwriter from Camborne who astonished all who saw her across Cornwall\, with her mature voice and mesmerising performances. Shouts of “our own Laura Marling” aren’t far off the mark.’ \nhttp://josienneandben.com/ \nPlease note: This will be a seated gig\, and will take place in the outdoor Amphitheate if the weather is good! If not\, we’ll be in the Barn. \nTickets are £10 (£8 for Local Residents with proof of address) and are available by clicking the link below\, or by calling the Eco Park Box Office (Tues-Fri during office hours) on 01209 891500

SUMMARY:The Natty Surf Jam
DESCRIPTION:The Natty Surf Jam:\n\n\n01/04/2017 \n\n\nThe Natty Surf Jam is a one day charity surf festival\, hosting a Longboarding Competition at Fistral Beach followed by a night of live music at Whiskers Bar and Venue in Newquay\, Cornwall. \nThe event has been organized in memory of local surfer Nathaniel Loney\, who tragically took his own life last year after a long term battle with mental health illnesses at just 25 years old. His sister\, Meghann Loney\, decided to put on this event to commemorate him and to raise awareness of these issues in the hope of making a positive change within the local community. \nThe main goal of this event is to raise awareness and support for young people battling against mental health illnesses\, and to help them get appropriate treatment early. This year we are working with the local cornish charity ‘The Invictus Trust’ (http://www.invictustrust.co.uk) to help them achieve their goal of installing a treatment facility in Truro. \nWe also want to represent SOBS http://uk-sobs.org.uk \n– This organization offers support and counseling for families of loved ones after suicide and helps to walk them through the grieving process. \nThe Longboarding Competition will take place on Saturday April 1st at Fistral Beach\, and will be hosted by Christian Surfers UK http://www.christiansurfers.co.uk\nWe are also honored to have champion longboarders Ben Skinner “SKINDOG” and Adam ‘Bearman’ Griffiths on board\, who will be firmly behind this project and kindly showing their support of The Natty Surf Jam on the day. \nThe competition will have two main divisions: an Open Men’s and  Women’s longboarding competition. We are also running an ‘Expression Session’ between heats so that all board users can get involved\, as we want this event to be an inclusive\, eclectic celebration of surf culture\, not just Longboarding! \nEntry for the competition will be £20 per contestant and will include breakfast and lunch\, hot and cold drinks\, a free tee-shirt\, a professional chiropractor check-up/massage and also free entry the evening event at Whiskers which is ticketed at £8 in advance and £10 on the door. After covering costs all proceeds will be donated between the charities. Entry to the ‘Expression Session’ will be donation based on the day of the event on a first come first serve basis. \nTo level out the prize giving all competitors names will be put into a hat then drawn into fantasy surf teams with at least one professional or experienced surfer in each team. The team with the most collective scored points will win prizes from the sponsors. This way its fair on all ability levels of surfing. \nAfter the contest we have a host of great musicians/artists at Whiskers playing until late\, along with hosting the competition’s prize-giving. Musicians include Meghann Loney’s BBC award winning band ‘Wildwood Kin’ (a recent favorite of BBC Introducing)\, so don’t miss out on tickets! Here is a recent Video of them playing a brand new track for BBC Introducing at Maida Vale Studios http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p04sdbw5 \nalong with their Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/wildwoodkin \nWe also have booked Abbie Piper https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dzfTUTXS0kE\na local young musician from Saint Agnes to open the show before the presentations begin. We are in conversation with two more exciting acts to headline the show\, who will be announced over the coming weeks. \nHere is a link from where you can buy tickets: \nhttp://www.seetickets.com/tour/the-natty-surf-jam \nHere is a link for the competitors entry portal: \nhttps://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/natty-surf-jam-competitors-entry-portal-tickets-32232666774?aff=eac2 \nMore information or want to get involved or make a pledge then get in touch with the team. \nThe Natty Surf Jam Facebook Event Page: https://www.facebook.com/events/1837432336470820/ \nSurf Jam Volunteers Facebook public group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/1686231175008869/ \nWhisker’s music and presentation evening tickets: http://www.seetickets.com/tour/the-natty-surf-jam  \nThe competitors entry portal: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/natty-surf-jam-competitors-entry-portal-tickets-32232666774?aff=eac
