City of Lights 2014 will be held on Wed 19 November at 6.30pm
Starts: Lemon Street, Truro
Ends: River Street
After introducing a new route last year, the 2014 parade will see a refinement of that route and an earlier start time of 6.30pm.
With 25,000 people coming to see City of Lights each year, we wanted to make the event safer and more enjoyable for audience and participants.
Truro High School for Girls are kindly hosting the start of the procession for the schools and community groups and half the bands. This half of the parade will move onto Falmouth Road and start down Lemon St, to be joined by the large artists lanterns and the rest of the bands from Charles St. We’ll the continue down Lemon St, onto Boscawen St then out of town along River St.
The schools will continue onto Frances St to finish along St Georges Road, but the large lanterns will double back along Little Castle Street and Kenwyn Street to finish on Lemon Quay.
This route gives plenty of space for viewing the procession away from the crowds – try joining us at the start on Falmouth Road to see the schools, or further down Lemon St to see the start of the whole procession or cheer us to the finish on River St. It will also allow the schools a safe place to finish and disperse and give all the audience another chance to see the large lanterns on Lemon Quay!
Families with small children are advised to avoid Lemon Quay and Boscawen Street which can get very busy!
