Watergate Bay will be the venue for the English National Surfing Championships in 2015 over the weekend 2-5th May.
The English Surfing federation, English National Surf Championships 2015:
This year we have a total of 28 , first year FdSc Surf Science & Technology students organising the competition, working alongside Andy Sturt from the English Surfing Federation and Dave Reed from the UK pro surfing association.
The students have the enormous task of organising and running the entire National competition, from raising sponsorship, writing press releases, advertising, managing social media, through to running the heats and managing all after event footage etc.
For the 2015 event, we are building on previous years’ success by introducing a black tie fundraising launch party to raise money for the UK pro team so they can compete in the European tour and with enough sponsorship, we hope to be able to have live coverage for the whole event via webcast, which will make this the first UK surfing competition with a live video feed.
It’s a very exciting year and one that will raise the professional “bar” for UK surf competitions and recognition of our nations’ competitors.
