Boardmasters Festival returns to Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay between 8th – 12th August 2018.
The 2018 Headliners have been unveiled. It has been announced that the huge headliner for Saturday 11th August is The Chemical Brothers, while George Ezra and Catfish and the Bottlemen will also take centre stage on Sunday and Friday respectively.
Friday 10th August:
Indie rockers Catfish and the Bottlemen are a musical tour de force. The platinum-selling Welsh quartet, fronted by energetic lead vocalist Van McCann, have been hailed by NME as “one of the best live bands in the game”, and as they take to the Boardmasters Main Stage on Friday 10 August on their return to Watergate Bay, festivalgoers can expect an electrifying set filled with early hits like ‘Cocoon’ and ‘Kathleen’, as well as cuts from their number one sophomore album ‘The Ride’.

The multi-platinum singer-songwriter behind chilled-out hits ‘Budapest’, ‘Blame It On Me’, ‘Don’t Matter Now’, and recent anthemic release ‘Paradise’, will close the Main Stage with his warm vocals as the sun sets on Watergate Bay on Sunday 12 August.

This year, Boardmasters welcomed 50,000 festivalgoers to enjoy world-class music from headliners Two Door Cinema Club, Jamiroquai, Alt-J and more atop the picture-perfect Watergate Bay. While the UK’s surf mecca Fistral Beach drew surf lovers in droves with record numbers watching the international surf competition over five days. NME described Boardmasters as “a perfect weekend mix of sun, surf and music in Cornwall” while The Financial Times said Boardmasters is “fast becoming one of the UK’s most enticing summer music festivals”. The Cornish Guardian commented that Boardmasters 2017 was “a resounding success” and the Western Morning News called it “one of Cornwall’s coolest events.”
Andrew Topham, Boardmasters Festival Director, said: “We are delighted to announce The Chemical Brothers as our first headline act for Boardmasters 2018. Following another sell-out year which saw the biggest Boardmasters ever this summer, we are excited to bring more of the most exciting names in music to Cornwall next August. Boardmasters’ unique fusion of the very best in international surfing and music helps to keep Cornwall firmly on the map as the festival sees unprecedented growth year on year. We can’t wait to welcome our incredible community for another summer of thrilling surf and music action across two stunning sites – Fistral Beach and Watergate Bay.”
