Newquay Event - Run to the Sun 2011

Click 2012 Run to the Sun infoSun and blue skies greeted thousands of festival goers as they celebrated Run To The Sun's 25th Anniversary ... but the weather was not quite so kind for the Show 'n' Shine. Grey skies and occasional light drizzle - with just a  few glimpses of sun - did nothing to dampen the spirit of the thousands who came to celebrate.

From the M4 corridor to Newquay's spectacular cliff tops - it's always an enjoyable ride with dedicated VW and mod enthusiasts as they Run to the Sun. This is one Newquay event unlike any other. Where else does car, dance, beach and festival merge to spark the energy that makes this weekend so outstanding? The new location for the Show 'n' Shine this year was packed with thousands of dedicated aficionados as they gazed upon the shiny and modified that gathered in RttS's time-honoured way. Run to the Sun - on the run since ’87 and still running - for this its 25th anniversary. There were 70 in the vanguard all those years ago - just enough to breathe life into the Newquay event. Now thousands make the journey from across the country and Europe, too, to celebrate this gargantuan gathering.

Did you join devotees, of all ages, who came for Newquay's beaches and surf, the buzz of the bands, world-class DJs, a mind-blowing visually enhanced musical journey, comics and cars?

Still a massive part of the weekend is the custom car Show ’n’ Shine which had a brand new venue this year - Trevithick Manor Farm, Newquay. On Sunday, May 29 judges looked for the top ten cars - those chosen were in line for a cash prize and an official RttS title. Showing, watching or just loving the vibe, you had to get there early. It was £10 to enter your pride and joy, or £5 if youwore a RttS wristband. For adults and children coming to share the experience the charge was £2 and £1 respectively. Parking free.

Spring Bank Holiday is the time to come and see and feel it for yourself. RttS keeps growing and getting better. First or twenty-fifth time - doesn’t matter - thousands came for the thrill of Run to the Sun 2011. Circle this particular Bank Holiday in your diary for next year!
