Newquay harbour
Sheltered
from the
prevailing westerly winds, Newquay Harbour provides a peaceful haven
with ample seating and plenty to watch, such as the fishing boats
landing their catch of crabs and lobsters at high tide.
Serious sea anglers can go out wreck fishing in well-found boats
skippered by professional seamen for a four-hourly or daily trip. Book
either at the kiosks near the south quay, by telephone or at one of the
shops in the town. Rods and lines are provided.
Take a family boat trip around the spectacular bay –
there’s a good chance that you may catch a few mackerel on
the lines provided. Just come down and jump aboard, no booking
required. You may even be see the local seals begging for food!
All of the boats have been inspected and approved by the Marine Coastal
Agency, and all our skippers are licensed.
A public slipway is available to visiting boats and yachts on trailers.
Before launching, please report to the Harbour Master or his assistant
for advice on the weather and tidal conditions. There are charges for
launching and trailer parking. It is inadvisable to take your vehicle
on to the sand without checking with them first. No jet skis or
personal watercraft are allowed.
Please remember that this is a working harbour, so can be busy at
times. There is a long stay car park, but at the height of the season
it is advisable to come early to find a space.
As well as the two restaurants overlooking the harbour, Newquay Rowing
Club, with its bar and balcony, also offers temporary membership to
holidaymakers.
