A stunning spectator water sport for those who don’t want to get their feet wet!

Thrills and spills aplenty are guaranteed when the all-action Zapcats meet for their season’s curtain raiser event, the Blue Chip Newquay Zapcat Grand Prix, to be held on Newquay’s Fistral Beach on April 24 and 25.

Get along to the north end of the beach and cheer on around 40 teams as they compete in this exciting and fast growing sport. There’s no charge to spectators, so don’t miss the chance to see up to 16 heats which will take place over the two days between 10am and 4pm, with two divisional finals each day.

Zapcat racing has proved a phenomenal success, with the UK Zapcat National Championship establishing itself as the world’s largest one-design championship and it is now celebrating its 10^th anniversary. Watch these amazingly agile little craft race around at breakneck speeds, bouncing over the waves in their pursuit of victory. The higher the surf, the bigger the bounce! The excitement is palpable as each two-man team - pilot and co-pilot - not only do battle with their competitors but the elements, too.

Potential new fans can join with tried and tested Zapcat devotees - who can’t get enough of the sport - to watch practise sessions on Friday, April 23 when there will be opportunities to meet the teams and get up close to these extraordinary powerboats.
